Using the Reader Service in the Hispanic Rite
The link above takes the reader to something I have been working on for a little while. Using Western Rite services, without the books organized, can be a messy affair, as I learned when I first dealt with Sts Isidore and Leander Western Orthodox Hispanic Church through 2006 and 2007.
After our being received into the True Orthodox Synod of the West in 2007 and given the right to use the Hispanic Orthodox (or, as is often and improperly called, Mozarabic rite) services during the fasts, we began using reader services (and later presanctified services) of the Hispanic rite, which, while organized just fine in
Latin, due to the difficulty of on the spot translation became a horrendously scattered weekly collation of services, until, piece by piece, the services were organized and streamlined and reprinted (about 30 re-editing jobs total over two years). Finally, shortly before Holy Week of this year we were blessed to use the Hispanic rite exclusively. Thus we now have complete texts for the reader service, the diaconal service (presanctified) and the Holy Liturgy, which we use depending on who is available to serve, et cetera, available in the mission chapel.Due to the fact that I realize that there is probably a need somewhere (where, I don't know, that's up to God) for these services, I am putting the first set-- the Reader Services-- online in English, along with the parts needed, which is usable during the largest part of the year, Cotidiano (the period between Pentecost and Advent).
