Project Pulpitum: We are almost finished!

All that is left now are some final cloths for the sides, and the two icons of Christ and the Theotokos.

"Project Pulpitum"

After a few weeks of delays on the part of Deacon Joseph, we finally began making a cross-screen (in the Sarum use this is called a roodscreen, in pre-schism Spanish use the only relatively similar device for such divisions is the pulpitum, which, properly, this is not-- since the Spanish pulpitum is similar to the ambon-- perhaps "crucero"?) for the chapel. (Such devices as this cross-screen are found in pre-schism Spanish architecture, however. It's just called "Project Pulpitum" because it sounded good and was accurate in a very broad sense.)

We began by taking apart the wooden items we had in the back and doing some cutting. After some preliminary arrangement, we had this:

Of course, none of this was cut or hammered. So we began shaping the wood to get it in the direction we wanted for the screen. Finally, we had this, which is where we are now:

And that is where we are at now. Neither the cross nor curtains are permanent fixtures (There need to be modifications and structures in place for both. But the screen is in place, so that the prayers may be read in all their proper places. Throughout the week, God willing, we are hoping to complete the work needed to make the structure look its best.
